Epica es un grupo neerlandés de Symphonic Metal fundado en abril del 2002 que mezcla la voz mezzo-soprano de Simone Simons acompañada con guitarras melódicas y contundentes, usando voces guturales, coros y pasajes en latín.
Epica está entre las principales referencias de este estilo. Con ocho años de existencia, es considerado una de las mejores bandas de la escena del Symphonic Metal mundial.
